Description
This triangular side notch point exhibits a distinctive elliptical profile, with a medium-sized blade that predominantly features an excurvate curvature, although some specimens may display a straighter edge. The notches, which run parallel to each other, penetrate the blade and create a shoulder that forms a horizontal boundary, transitioning into an expanding stem. The basal edge of the point is generally straight, with some instances showing a subtle concavity. The flaking pattern observed on this point is characterized by a random arrangement of flakes, lacking a consistent or deliberate pattern.
Size
The arrowhead's dimensions are characterized by a total length ranging from 35 to 60 mm. The stem, which forms the base of the arrowhead, measures between 8 and 12 mm in length. In terms of width, the blade spans 18 to 24 mm, while the neck, the narrower section connecting the blade to the stem, measures between 13 and 17 mm. The stem itself, which would be attached to the arrow shaft, has a width of 15 to 24 mm.
Distribution
This type is mainly discovered across Illinois and Missouri, extending into the heart of Indiana.
