Description

Snowflake Red Ware is a Mogollon/Western Pueblo ceramic type defined by red-slipped surfaces and black painted decorations. Designs include straight-line motifs, triangles, and geometric banding. Bowls and jars are common, often with slightly recurved rims.

Size

Typical bowl diameters range from 14–26 cm; jar heights range 18–30 cm. Walls average 5–8 mm in thickness.

Found primarily around the Snowflake–Taylor region in east-central Arizona.

Snowflake Red Ware is closely related to other Mogollon red wares but has distinctive painting styles that make it recognizable within eastern Arizona ceramic sequences.
