Light slipped surfaces over fine clay bodies, tempered with sand or crushed rock. Paint is iron-oxide or manganese-based.

Description

Black-on-white bowls and jars with strong geometric layouts, thick framing lines, heavy hachure, and bold triangles. Designs are less refined than Classic style but much more elaborate than early Style I.

Size

Bowls commonly 20–30 cm in diameter; jars 22–36 cm tall. Bowls often show deeper curvature than later Classic pieces.

Most frequent in the central Mimbres drainage and nearby highland communities.
