Description

This medium-sized, triangular point features a side notch configuration, characterized by a narrow profile and a cross-sectional shape that ranges from flattened to elliptical. The blade's curvature can vary, exhibiting either an excurvate or straight morphology. The shoulders of the point are notable for their variability, spanning from a horizontal orientation to a more angled, upward inclination. The notches, which are typically U-shaped and parallel, enter the blade at a placement that is either parallel or slightly diagonal, resulting in an expanded stem. The basal edge of the point can display a range of shapes, from convex to straight, with some specimens exhibiting a subtly convex base. While basal thinning may be observed in some cases, basal grinding is a relatively rare occurrence. The flaking pattern on this point is random, lacking a consistent or organized arrangement.

Size

The dimensions of the arrowheads are as follows: they range in overall length from 36 to 60 mm, with stem lengths varying between 11 and 19 mm. The width of the blade spans from 14 to 30 mm, while the neck width measures between 10 and 21 mm. The basal width falls within the range of 18 to 29 mm, and the thickness of the arrowheads is between 6 and 9 mm.

Distribution

This type is mainly discovered throughout the southern and central California shoreline areas and adjacent mountainous zones. This type extends to the Sierra Nevada mountains and into the Mojave Desert. This type has been occasionally spotted within the Sierra Nevada's rarely
